I had just turned to face Jammi, one of the two guides aboard our wildlife sightseeing boat, when he screamed “HOLY COW! LOOK AT THAT!” My head jerked back toward the bow to see the normally smooth surface of the Johnstone Strait full of foam,chop and ripples.

Traveling any distance in the twenty first century usually means stepping onto a plane and, several hours later, stepping off, in Timbuktu or Kalamazoo. You don’t have to invest a ton of time to get to someplace faraway.
