Wild Dunes Resort – A Weekend Getaway to South Carolina

On a recent trip to South Carolina we spent a weekend at the Wild Dunes Resort on the Isle of Palms.  The expansive and lushly landscaped property felt much more like its own homey community as opposed to what comes to mind when I hear the word “resort”.   The atmosphere is very low key, creating an environment suitable for couple’s getaways to family vacations and anything in between. Siem Reap Cambodia Discoveries

Off we go for the long ride back to Saigon .   We were rested and…the ride seemed much quicker.   We had a lovely lunch at at very good Vietnamese restaurant in the heart of the city,   Cordon Bleu, then went to the War Remnants Museum, which was disconcerting as it showed the atrocities of Agent Orange.   The Vietnamese are friendly to Americans, seeming to have forgotten that the Vietnam War killed 3 million of their people.   Site inspections included the ...

The resort was lovely…Nicely spread out with the options of walking, biking or catching a ride on a golf cart to get about.  It’s about 30 ...

Posted by:

Explorations adviser Melissa Gallant shares her multi- part adventure of a recent Southeast Asia trip.

Halong Bay , a Unesco Heritage site, is world reknowned for its scenic beauty.  I was fortunate to spend 3 days in this beautiful place which is dotted with limestone outcroppings many of which are covered with lush greenery. It’s about a 4 hour bus ride to the Halong Bay dock, but well worth it, with rice fields and country villages all along the way.

The Au ...
